Prompt Payment: Encourages customers to pay outstanding invoices on time.
Minimum Overdue Balance: Set a minimum overdue balance to automatically generate the collection letter. If overdue is less than minimum overdue balance no collection letter is generated.
Fees & Blocking: Optionally apply fees to overdue balances and specify whether to block customer invoicing during letter posting/printing.
Customer Relations: Personalise collection letters using electronic reporting or Docentric to enhance customer relationships. The default report format is SSRS, but customisation options are available.
Open Transactions: Automatically lists all open transactions for the customer, reducing manual effort.
Multiple Collection Letter Levels: Create up to five collection letter levels in Dynamics 365.
Automation & Flexibility: Generate, print, and send collection letters with ease, apply interest to overdue balances, and build customised collection letter sequences.
1st Collection Letter: Grace period is calculated from the invoice due date.
2nd & Subsequent Letters: Grace period is based on the posting or printing date of the previous collection letter (as defined in Accounts Receivable Parameters).
Ensure that all posting profiles requiring collection letters have an assigned Collection Letter Sequence.
Also note that we do not need to specify collection letter sequence for each of the Account code in the customer posting profile. For example, we do not need to generate collection letter for some groups.

Per Transaction: Each transaction is treated independently, and collection letters are generated based on the individual past due transaction (Invoice).
Per Customer: Collection letters are generated at the customer level, taking into account all open and past due transactions (Invoices) for that customer.
This approach (Per Customer) raises an important question:

Even if we have setup system to create collection letter per customer still for each transaction the code will be update and we can check that code in the Review and Post Collection Letter > Select the collection letter > Transactions.
In case of “Create Collection letter per customer” the highest collection letter code among all the transaction become the collection letter code for the transaction and the collection fees as determined based on that code only.
